Haiku

When Mrs Smith was teaching us last week we wrote some Haiku poems which we also illustrated. The original poems are on our publishing wall and look really fantastic.

Haiku are a traditional form of Japanese verse. They are made up of three lines of peotry, with a structure of five syllables in the first line, seven in the second line and five in the final line. Some other rules for writing a Haiku are that it is about nature or the seasons and shouldn't use rhyme or metaphor. It is a way for each of us to express the way we response to the natural world around us.
