My Pounamu

I got my Pounamu in the South Island. It is a special treasure to me.

Pounamu is the Maori word for greenstone. I have a koru and it symbolises new life and growth. My pounamu is about 4cm wide and high.

My pounamu came from the South Island. I got it in Hokitika but the actual stone comes from a river in Marsden which is just below Greymouth.

My greenstone is really special to me because it reminds me of my family holiday in the South Island.

My pounamu is really close to me and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
